Making pens and making mistakes

Sometimes I don't get it right first time. Take this pen for instance, I used the wrong bushes (template) on the cap and it was 0.5mm too wide which meant the wood protruded outside of the finial cap by a cats whisker, but even that wasn't good enough for me. Shaking my head in my own disappointment, I returned to the lathe.

I took the pen apart, used the proper template, removed the 0.5mm, re-waxed the wood and hand polished it. Now I'm pleased with it.
