Blood Vein is a bold Bishop-style pen made from Yung stone, characterised by vivid crimson colouring fractured with dark, vein-like lines that run through the material like natural fissures in rock. The result is dramatic and organic, giving the pen a raw, almost geological presence.
The deep red stone contrasts strongly with the glossy black hardware, reinforcing the pen’s powerful silhouette and substantial feel. Finished to a smooth, high-gloss polish, the material reveals depth and variation from every angle.
This pen is offered as a Second due to a small surface scratch on the pen body. The scratch is purely cosmetic and does not affect the pen’s structure, balance, or writing performance.
Maker’s Story
Blood Vein was created to allow the material to lead the design. Yung stone is inherently unpredictable, and as the blank was shaped, its fractured patterns and dark veins revealed themselves naturally, guiding the final form.
Stone-based materials demand patience and care. Each cut was made deliberately to preserve the veining, followed by slow polishing to bring out the depth and contrast within the stone.
During finishing, a minor surface scratch occurred. While this does not impact the pen’s use or durability, it means this piece does not meet my usual visual standard. Rather than discard it, I’ve chosen to offer it as a Second — fully functional, but priced accordingly.
