Ash & Ember is a refined Bockworth rollerball that brings together cool, stone-grey stabilised wood and warm resin in a striking yet understated composition. Maker’s Story
Ash & Ember was made to explore contrast — not just in colour, but in character. Stabilised wood brings strength and permanence, preserving natural grain that would otherwise be lost, while resin allows colour and form to flow freely around it.
 
As the pen was shaped on the lathe, the interaction between wood and resin revealed itself gradually, with the grain guiding the final form rather than being forced into it. Each pass refined the balance between structure and softness, until the two materials felt naturally unified.
As with all my pens, Ash & Ember was turned, finished, and assembled entirely by hand. No two pieces of stabilised wood are ever the same, ensuring this pen is a genuine one-off — shaped as much by the material as by the maker.
