The Silver Tempest is a pen born from curiosity and craftsmanship. While machining aluminium in my workshop, I noticed the delicate curls of swarf shimmering in the light. They were simply too beautiful to throw away, so I decided to preserve them forever by casting them into a rich violet resin blank.
My first attempt didn't quite meet my expectations, so I started again. On the second version I added a precision-machined aluminium band, creating a striking visual break that perfectly complements the swirling metallic fragments suspended throughout the pen. The result is a writing instrument that looks as though silver is dancing through a sea of purple.
No two pens can ever be the same, making this a truly unique piece.

Maker's Story
Some of my favourite pens begin with a simple "what if?"
While turning a piece of aluminium in the workshop, I found myself looking at the pile of swarf collecting beneath the lathe. The delicate metallic curls caught the light beautifully, and instead of sweeping them into the bin, I wondered what would happen if I preserved them inside resin.
The first pen proved the idea worked, but I wasn't completely happy with the finish. Rather than settling, I cast another blank and refined the design by adding a machined aluminium band to frame the flowing metallic patterns.
 
I'm glad I persevered.
 
Silver Tempest is a reminder that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places, and that sometimes the best creations begin with something others would simply throw away.
