The Temeraire Emperor Fountain Pen draws inspiration from J.M.W. Turner’s iconic painting The Fighting Temeraire, a masterpiece celebrated for its luminous skies and atmospheric light. Like the painting itself, this pen captures a sense of movement and depth, with swirling currents of blue and silver flowing through the body of the resin.
Set against luxurious 22ct gold plating, the cool tones of the material create a striking contrast that feels both timeless and elegant. The Emperor design gives the pen a commanding presence, while the intricate cap band and engraved clip add refined detail befitting such a distinguished writing instrument.
Polished to a deep, mirror-like gloss, the pen reflects light across the swirling patterns of the resin, revealing new details from every angle. It is a pen that feels both classic and contemporary — a fitting tribute to a masterpiece that has endured for nearly two centuries.
Maker’s Story
This pen is crafted from a premium blank produced by Divine Island Design, created by husband-and-wife team Braxton and Erica Frankenbury in the Florida Keys.
Braxton has developed a reputation among pen makers for producing distinctive blanks with rich colour and remarkable consistency. Made from Alumilite polyurethane resin, these blanks are prized for their stability, excellent machining qualities, and ability to polish to a deep, glass-like finish.
As the pen is turned on the lathe, the internal patterns slowly emerge, revealing layered swirls of colour that appear almost fluid beneath the surface. The material takes threads exceptionally well and finishes beautifully, making it suitable for both kit pens and fully custom designs.
The result is a pen that combines modern materials, careful craftsmanship, and artistic inspiration — a writing instrument as distinctive as the artwork that inspired its name.
