A wood that fights back, finally mastered.
There’s something almost primal about black palm wood. Its dramatic grain looks like fire trapped beneath polished stone — wild streaks of deep black cutting through warm bronze and honey tones. It’s beautiful, rare, and notoriously unforgiving to work with. Black palm has a reputation among pen makers for splitting, chipping, and ruining hours of careful craftsmanship in seconds.
That’s what makes this pen special.
This is only the second black palm pen I’ve ever successfully completed. The wood sat in storage for six years while I waited for the confidence — and patience — to attempt it again. Every stage demanded care, precision, and a bit of nerve. The result is a pen that feels both elegant and hard-earned.
Mounted on the richly detailed Imperial kit, the dramatic organic patterning of the wood contrasts beautifully against the ornate chrome fittings and jewel-style clip detail. No two sections of black palm are ever alike, making this an unmistakably one-of-a-kind writing instrument.

Who this pen is for
This pen is for someone who appreciates rarity, craftsmanship, and the story behind an object as much as the object itself. It suits collectors, fountain pen enthusiasts, and anyone drawn to materials that carry character and challenge in equal measure.
Why choose a fountain pen?
A fountain pen transforms writing from a task into an experience. The smooth ink flow, balance in the hand, and deliberate pace make even everyday notes feel more personal. Many writers find fountain pens more comfortable over long periods and far more expressive than disposable alternatives.

Maker’s Story
Some woods practically become pens on their own. Black palm is not one of them.
This blank sat untouched in storage for six years because I knew exactly how difficult it would be. My first attempt years ago taught me just how unforgiving black palm can be — brittle in places, prone to chipping, and capable of cracking right at the final stage if you rush it.
Eventually, curiosity got the better of me.
Slowly, carefully, and with more than a little tension along the way, this pen emerged. Every successful pass on the lathe felt like progress earned rather than given. That’s part of why this pen feels special to me — not just because of how it looks, but because of what it took to bring it into existence.
