This pen began as a beautiful piece of curly black maple, chosen for its dramatic grain and depth of colour. Rather than letting the wood stand alone, I paired it with a band of bright orange acrylic — an intentional contrast designed to create something a little unexpected.
 
When the blank was turned on the lathe, the swirling maple grain came alive, and the orange section appeared almost like a spark or flame emerging from the wood. The result is a pen that feels both natural and bold at the same time — perfect for writers who appreciate craftsmanship but also enjoy something a little different.
