Imperial Ember

The red/copper and electric blue running through the black acrylic give it a very different feel from the previous one — almost like glowing embers beneath a dark surface.

What makes this pen special?

The Imperial Ember is a little different from my usual handmade pens — and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

This is an Imperfect Edition Imperial, created using a spectacular acrylic blank combining deep black with flashes of fiery red, copper and electric blue. The colours move and change dramatically around the pen, creating a completely individual pattern.

The reason this pen is being offered as an Imperfect Edition is that the finished acrylic has some imperfections that prevent me from selling it at my normal price.

But here's the thing...

The imperfections don't stop it being a very good-looking pen.

The Imperial hardware still gives it that substantial, traditional appearance, with ornate detailing, polished metalwork and a beautifully substantial feel in the hand.

So rather than putting it away in a drawer because it doesn't quite meet my usual standards, I'm offering it at 50% off.

That means you get a genuine handmade Imperial from The Pen Guy, with all the character of the original design, but at half the usual price.

And there is only one.

Who is this pen for?

This is for someone who appreciates the idea that handmade doesn't necessarily mean factory-perfect.

If you want a beautiful, substantial handmade pen and aren't bothered by a few imperfections in the acrylic, the Imperial Ember offers an opportunity to own something rather special without paying the full price.

It would also make an excellent everyday pen — one you can actually use rather than being terrified of putting it down on your desk!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this pen an Imperfect Edition?

The acrylic body contains imperfections that mean it doesn't meet my normal standard for a full-price The Pen Guy pen.

I'm a bit fussy about my pens — probably more than I need to be — so rather than selling it as a standard Imperial, I'm being completely upfront about its imperfections and reducing the price accordingly.

Does the pen still work properly?

Yes. The Imperfect Edition classification relates to the appearance of the finished pen, not its basic function.

Why is it half price?

Because I don't think it would be fair to charge my normal price for a pen that doesn't meet my usual finish standard. So this one is offered at 50% off.

Is this the exact pen I will receive?

Yes. This is the actual pen pictured.

Will there be another one like it?

Almost certainly not. The acrylic pattern is unique, and this particular pen is a one-off.

One thing I'd definitely do on the Wix product page

I'd put a very clear notice above the price, something like:

⚠️ IMPERFECT EDITION — 50% OFF
This pen has minor imperfections in the acrylic finish and therefore doesn't meet my usual full-price standard. The pen remains fully functional and is offered at half price. Please study the photographs carefully before purchasing.

That protects you from someone buying it at half price and then complaining that “there's an imperfection in it.” 😄
