What makes this pen special?
There is something rather feline about this pen. Crafted from very hard Indian Rosewood, its deep chocolate-brown to almost black grain gives it a wonderfully rich, understated appearance, while the highly detailed gold-tone fittings add a touch of extravagance.
And then there is the cat.
The elegant curved cat clip gives the pen its personality, turning what could have been a traditional wooden ballpoint into something genuinely distinctive. The decorative textured detailing at the finial and grip complements the warm gold fittings beautifully.
The Indian Rosewood is particularly well suited to a pen like this. It is dense, hard and naturally durable, with a fine grain that takes an exceptionally smooth polish. No two pieces have quite the same pattern, so the finished pen retains the character of the individual piece of wood from which it was made.
Who is this pen for?
For cat lovers, animal lovers and anyone who likes their writing instruments to have a little personality.
It would make an especially memorable gift for a cat owner, but you certainly don't need to own a cat to appreciate it. This is a substantial, traditional wooden pen with just enough feline mischief to make people smile.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the exact pen I will receive?
Yes. This is a handmade one-off pen, so the photographs show the actual pen you will receive. The natural grain of the Indian Rosewood is unique to this piece.
What type of refill does it use?
It uses a replaceable ballpoint refill, giving you the convenience of a familiar, smooth-writing everyday pen.
Can the refillable ballpoint use bottled ink?
No. Unlike a fountain pen, a ballpoint uses a dedicated ink refill rather than bottled ink.
Is this suitable as a gift?
Absolutely. The combination of genuine hardwood, intricate fittings and the distinctive cat clip makes it a particularly unusual gift for a cat lover or anyone who appreciates handmade craftsmanship.
Maker's Story
I have always thought that the best handmade pens have a bit of character about them. You shouldn't have to look at the name on the box to know that a pen is something different.
With this one, the cat rather gives the game away.
I chose this beautiful piece of Indian Rosewood because its naturally dark, almost mysterious grain works wonderfully with the ornate gold fittings. Then came the cat clip — and suddenly it had a personality of its own.
Like every pen I make, it has been turned, shaped, polished and assembled by hand in my workshop. The wood started life as a piece of timber. It ended up as a rather smart cat with somewhere to keep your ink. I'm quite pleased with the transformation.
