This piece blends soft golden honey tones with deep, ember-like reds and burnt umber swirls, creating a flowing landscape of colour and movement. The lighter burl seems to glow from within, while the richer sections burn with quiet intensity — a perfect balance of calm desert light and smouldering heat.

Maker’s Story
Sometimes a piece of wood chooses you.
When selecting materials, this section of Amboyna Burr was lying slightly apart from the others. Not stacked neatly. Not competing for attention. Just resting there, separate — almost as if it had been set aside.
 
There was something about the contrast. The way the pale burl met the darker ember tones felt intentional, like two landscapes meeting at dusk. It didn’t shout. It simply waited.
I picked it up, turned it in the light, and knew immediately it needed to become a Prontus. The proportions of this style allow the grain to flow uninterrupted, and as it was shaped and polished, the depth of colour intensified beautifully.
