Some pens are planned. Others seem to wait patiently to be rediscovered.
This Sovereign fountain pen began life as a beautiful stabilised Amboyna burr blank imported from Indonesia — full of swirling grain, deep caramel tones, and fiery amber figuring that almost glows beneath the surface. Then it vanished. Dropped behind a cupboard during a workshop session, it disappeared completely for over a year before unexpectedly reappearing, hidden away exactly where it had fallen.
That strange little journey somehow suits the finished pen perfectly.
The wood itself is extraordinary. Amboyna burr is prized for its chaotic, organic figuring — a natural pattern that looks almost like flames moving through polished stone. The stabilisation process preserves both the strength and the intricate detail of the timber while allowing the natural warmth of the wood to remain at the forefront.
#Paired with the elegant Sovereign hardware and ornate detailing, the result feels timeless, luxurious, and quietly dramatic.
No two pieces of Amboyna burr are ever alike, but this one feels especially alive.
Who this pen is for
This pen is for someone who appreciates rarity, craftsmanship, and the stories objects can carry with them.
Ideal for fountain pen enthusiasts, collectors of handmade writing instruments, or anyone wanting a pen that feels genuinely personal and impossible to replicate.
It’s equally at home as a daily writer or a treasured display piece.
Why choose a fountain pen?
A fountain pen transforms writing into something slower, smoother, and far more deliberate.
Unlike disposable pens, a fountain pen glides across the page with minimal pressure, creating a more expressive and enjoyable writing experience. Many writers find that fountain pens reduce hand fatigue while adding character and personality to handwriting.
There’s also something deeply satisfying about using a handcrafted fountain pen made from natural materials — every writing session becomes a small ritual.

Maker’s Story
This pen nearly never happened.
The Amboyna burr blank had somehow slipped behind a cupboard in the workshop and vanished completely. After searching unsuccessfully, it was assumed lost for good. Then, more than a year later, it suddenly reappeared during a tidy-up — dusty, forgotten, and still every bit as stunning as the day it arrived from Indonesia.
Sometimes, certain pieces of wood simply demand a second chance.
Thankfully, this one got it.
