Maker’s Story
This blank began as an experiment.
I wanted to create something that felt like two opposing forces — warmth and coolness, fire and night — meeting within a single form. So I poured the crimson first, allowing it to settle and partially cure. Then I introduced the darker teal resin, gently blending the boundary just enough to avoid a harsh line while preserving contrast.
 
Timing is everything when pouring layered resin. Too early and the colours merge into mud. Too late, and the seam becomes mechanical. This one found that perfect middle moment — organic, natural, almost like smoke drifting between light and shadow.
 
Once cured, I turned it slowly, revealing depth within both tones. The red intensified as material was removed, and the teal revealeda subtle shimmer I hadn’t fully seen in the blank.
When the final polish went on, the piece came alive.
 
There’s something deeply satisfying about making the blank yourself. You’re not just shaping the pen — you’re shaping the material from the very beginning.
